My hometown (Santa Barbara) landscape is predominately blue and green, and I decided I wanted to take a break and paint a desert scene. The inspiration for this piece was hiking in Zion National Park and buying a set of Mount Vision portrait colors, which are mostly in the luscious warm tones I wanted to use.
