Sunshine

I was thinking of patterns. I had some ideas for a few paintings and I needed to think a little about patterns so I went into my backyard. After looking at lots of leaves, bushes, trees and pretty plants, I suddenly made up the idea of a flower with interesting, skinny leaves. I worked on the design on and off for quite a few days, drew what I thought I wanted, put it aside and looked at it for about a month. I made some changes from time to time, and then-finally-got out my paper and pastels and "Sunshine" emerged!
