Calla Lilies in Pacific Grove

Down by Lovers Point in Pacific Grove, CA, someone planted calla lilies along the coast. One day I was driving down the waterfront and was struck by the mass of beautiful white calla lilies and the Pride of Maderia blooming in the spring. I painted a plein air painting, but I wanted to do more. So this soft pastel came out of my idea. I wanted to make it look like you were looking out a window at the scene. Pacific Grove is known for Monarch butterflies, cypress trees and pelicans, so I added all these things to my picture, to address the question "What makes Pacific Grove Pacific Grove?" I used soft pastels as well as PanPastels and pastel pencils.
