Isaiah 40:31

Isaiah 40:31, Emerging Pastel Artist
Isaiah 40:31
This painting is a depiction of one of the caves in which the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' were hidden for around 2,000 years. The work is titled after a specific verse which appears written in Hebrew on the scroll in this artwork. As I painted it I imagined the nearby Essene settlement being ransacked by Roman soldiers and this person hiding the scrolls reading the below scripture, holding on to its promise.

"But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
