Shopping in Seville
My basic reference for this was a photo I took while on a trip to Seville, Spain. I loved the architecture and colors of the buildings, and all the flowers in the windows. I first sketched in the buildings to make sure the perspective was correct, then blocked in the shapes and colors with hard pastels. I used mostly Terry Ludwig soft pastels to layer in the colors, using side and down strokes of different colors to get the stucco feel of the buildings, and used softly blended strokes to get the feel of how the shades on the windows lay over the balcony. I used reds and pinks to pop the flowers. I used mostly Terry Ludwigs and Mount Visions, with some Townsends and Richesons. I hope people enjoy looking down the alleyway, and wondering where the women at the end is going and what she has been shopping for.
