Contemplation

Inspired by a trip to Strasbourg France where we visited a well known Gothic church. I spotted a robed priest in thoughtful meditation. I wanted to retain the old world aspect of the walls, pillars and frescoes. Soft pastel on sanded paper. Brushed on acrylic ground for pastel as part of the under painting to create some texture in areas. The robed priest was highlighted by some light. I felt a kinship with him in this moment. Many emotions were churned. I attempted to capture this contemplative moment.
