Pienza, Italy

Soft pastel / pastel pencil on Velour paper. Pienza, Italy is my favorite Tuscan town in Italy, where as a child of 10 I fell in love with the place, visiting relatives with my Italian grandparents and watching a movie being made (Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo & Juliet 1968). I finally returned to the town for the second time in 2018. It was a very emotional, beautiful visit. The Renaissance town is an artist's paradise. I love the architecture for sure, being a Renaissance specialist myself, and this residential building lured me with its cascading pink flowers. I knew that I had to capture it in the soft, sensibility of pastel on Velour paper.
