Whispering Sands was painted in pastel on black UArt paper. The dark paper made a good background for the lighter colors I added for sky and sea. Pastels are great for depicting water, especially ocean waves breaking on the shore. My idea was to create a painting that was peaceful and quiet, as thought the sands were "whispering"....
